Several people seem to be relying on these witterings for information regarding stoppages in the vicinity of Briare.

The route south of Briare (currently closed at Chatillion-sur-Loire) is still expected to be open in mid-May.

The route north, towards Paris, is closed just south of Montargis, and was due to open in mid-April.  Unfortunately ...

VNF issued a letter today (or maybe yesterday) stating that the locks 14 - 18 on the Canal de Briare (essentially the Rogny flight) are CLOSED due to excessive leaking.  Full stop!!!!!  There is NO date given in the letter for the re-opening.  Yes, of course I'll put out a posting when such a date is received.
